These shoes were comfortable right out of the box (although there are no insoles- not sure if Danner or St Bernard forgot to include them?). The upper leather is stiff on the ankles but no doubt it'll break in after several miles. I wear a 9 in a regular show and ordered the boots also in 9- they fit well with thick hiking socks. A half size down would've been too small ultimately even though that's what Danner recommends. High quality leather construction from Portland, not a cheap knockoff from another country. Love the boots!
