Men's Ski & Snowboard Pants

Frequently Asked Questions

How should men's ski pants fit?

Ski pants should sit at the waist without sliding down and allow a full squat over a base layer. The hem should cover the boot cuff with the gaiter tucked inside. European brands here often run slimmer than United States labels.

Should I choose shell or insulated ski pants?

A shell pant has no insulation and relies on the base layer underneath, which gives the most range across changing conditions. An insulated pant carries built in fill and suits consistently cold resort days.

What features should I look for in men's ski pants?

Check the waterproof rating, taped seams, inner thigh vents for temperature control, reinforced scuff guards where edges contact the ankle, and elastic gaiters that seal over the boot.

What is the advantage of a bib over a regular pant?

A bib extends over the chest with shoulder straps and seals best against deep snow, which suits powder days and touring. A regular pant sits at the waist, layers more easily under a jacket, and is simpler to take off.

How should men's ski pants be cared for?

Wash with a technical cleaner rather than regular detergent, and never use fabric softener, since both block the water repellent finish. Close all zippers first and tumble dry low to reactivate the finish.

What should I wear under men's ski pants?

Wear a synthetic or merino base layer bottom rather than cotton, which holds moisture and chills you. Ski socks go over the base layer and reach above the boot cuff with nothing bunched underneath.
