I invested in modern skis but my boots were 15 years old so did a lot of shopping, comparison, & research. The CONCEPT of separate shells & boots are extremely interesting & appealing but NON-SALE prices are prohibitive. In fact, DAHU increased the regular price to over $1,350!! But, curiosity got the better of me, decided to take the plunge, and lucked out on purchasing the last pair in my size on clearance from St Bernard. Dry fitted at home and made zero adjustments.
Dahu affords a double whammy so to speak coz you get a pair of LUXURY LEATHER snowBoard boots AND the shells. They look amazingly sharp with fine, attractive detailing, and Swiss precision engineering & build which is very apparently solid.
Haven't skied for several seasons so expected to take it ez pz but surprised I got back into challenging & steep "Blues" pretty fast. The Dahu system is comfortable and everything "feels" LIGHTER than traditional boots.
You CAN DRIVE WEARING the inner boots and no longer keep shoes in my backBack while skiing. I commute with the shells in my backpack, then after strapping in, all that's left in my backpack is beer (bit of a joke :). I don't mind walking around chalets for apres with the shells still hooked up while other skiers clomp around in regular ski boots.
The same concept in ski boots also applies to APEX, but stripped screws causing BUCKLES to LITERALLY FALL OFF while skiing ESCAPED Apex's Inspection & Quality Control. With Apex there's no leverage…
