Women's Midi Dresses

Frequently Asked Questions

How does height affect the way a midi sits?

Midi length is defined by where it falls relative to your calf, so height changes the effect more than with any other length. On a shorter frame a midi can read as maxi. Check the stated length against your own measurement.

Where should a midi hem end?

The narrowest point of the calf is usually the most flattering place for a midi hem to end. A hem that stops at the widest point of the calf can shorten the leg line, which a heel or a pointed shoe offsets.

Why are midi dresses considered the most versatile length?

Midi dresses are the most versatile length across settings, which is why the collection spans structured cotton and ponte for work, silk and chiffon for events, and linen and cotton voile for warm weather.

How do I tell a work midi from an evening one?

A slip midi in silk or satin reads evening. A shirt or sheath midi in cotton or ponte reads office. A tiered or smocked midi in cotton reads casual and resort. The fabric does more work than the cut here.

What shoes work best with a midi?

A heel or a pointed flat keeps the leg line unbroken. A boot works when the hem sits close to the ankle but can look cut off at mid calf. A flat sandal suits lighter fabrics in warm weather.

How do I layer over a midi dress?

A cropped jacket or a fitted knit keeps the waist visible and stops the midi reading as one long block. A belt does the same. A longline coat works if it falls below the hem rather than cutting across it.
