Smartwool Merino Socks & Base Layers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Smartwool known for?

Smartwool is an outdoor apparel brand built around responsibly sourced merino wool. The collection features base layers and performance socks engineered for warmth, natural temperature regulation, moisture wicking, and odor resistance across skiing, snowboarding, running, and everyday cold-weather wear.

What products are in the Smartwool collection?

This collection includes merino wool base layer tops and bottoms for men and women, plus a wide range of performance socks. You will find ski and snowboard over-the-calf styles, low ankle running socks, everyday no-show pairs, and cushioned kids' options.

Why is merino wool used in Smartwool products?

Merino wool is a fine, soft natural fiber that regulates temperature in both cold and mild conditions, wicks moisture, and resists odor even after repeated wear. It stays warm when damp, making it well suited to active outdoor use.

How do Smartwool products fit?

Smartwool base layers have a slim, next-to-skin fit and generally run true to size, while the Intraknit line fits snug and athletic. Socks run true to size, chosen by shoe size, with the 4 Degree Elite system keeping them secure.

How do I care for Smartwool merino products?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat or tumble dry low. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and high heat, which can damage merino fibers and reduce softness, shape, and natural odor resistance over time.

Who are Smartwool products best for?

They suit skiers, snowboarders, runners, and anyone who wants reliable warmth and comfort outdoors. From high-output winter days to everyday wear, the merino base layers and socks deliver breathable, temperature-regulating performance for adults and kids alike.
