Filson Bags, Duffles & Briefcases

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Filson known for?

Founded in 1897, Filson is an American heritage outfitter known for rugged, long-lasting goods built for the outdoors. The brand prizes durable materials and simple, functional design meant to be repaired and passed down rather than replaced.

What materials does Filson use?

Filson is best known for Tin Cloth waxed cotton and heavyweight Rugged Twill, often paired with bridle leather trim and solid brass hardware. Modern pieces also use abrasion-resistant Cordura nylon and recycled ripstop for lighter, weather-resistant carry.

What makes Filson bags and gear so durable?

Filson builds with tightly woven, weather-resistant fabrics, reinforced stress points, and full-grain bridle leather that ages into a rich patina. The goods are made to withstand hard use and improve with age rather than wear out.

What does Filson offer at Saint Bernard?

The Filson selection here centers on travel and everyday carry, including duffles, backpacks, briefcases, dopp and travel kits, and bi-fold wallets. Each is built from the brand's signature Tin Cloth, Rugged Twill, or Cordura.

How do I care for Filson products?

Care depends on the material. Brush and spot clean Rugged Twill with cold water, wipe Cordura nylon with a damp cloth, and re-wax Tin Cloth periodically to keep it water repellent. Condition leather trim occasionally and avoid machine washing.

How should I use and style Filson pieces?

Filson gear suits travel, commuting, and the outdoors, pairing naturally with rugged, classic wardrobes. The timeless waxed-canvas and leather look works from the trail to the office and makes dependable, long-lasting gifts.
