Coal Beanies, Gaiters & Clavas

Frequently Asked Questions

What is COAL known for?

COAL is a headwear specialist focused on beanies and cold weather accessories rather than a full apparel line. The range runs from everyday knit hats to technical layers built for skiing and snowboarding.

What materials does COAL use?

The range spans fine acrylic knits, plush sherpa and polyester fleece, waffle knits, technical grid fleece, tech jersey and Polylana recycled yarn, each chosen for how warm or breathable a piece needs to be.

How does COAL headwear fit?

Nearly everything is one size with stretch built in. COAL describes its beanies by profile rather than size, from low profile that sits close over the ears through mid, tall and slouchy shapes.

What does COAL make?

The lineup covers beanies in knit and fleece, reversible styles, balaclavas known as clavas, neck gaiters and tubes. Many pieces are cut low profile so they layer under a helmet or hood.

How should COAL headwear be cared for?

Wash cool on a gentle cycle and dry flat away from direct heat. High heat mats fleece and distorts knit, and fabric softener coats technical fibers so they stop breathing properly.

When is COAL headwear best worn?

The range is built for cold weather, from daily commutes and dog walks to full days on the mountain, with technical pieces sized to layer under helmets and everyday knits worn on their own.
