Beauty: Skincare, Suncare & Fragrance | Saint Bernard

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the beauty category include?

The category covers skincare including cleansers, serums, and moisturizers, sun protection, body and hand care, lip products, fragrance, candles, and grooming tools and accessories.

In what order should skincare be applied?

Apply from thinnest to thickest texture, so cleanser, then any water based serum, then oil or moisturizer, then sun protection during the day. This lets each layer absorb rather than sitting on top of a heavier one.

What should I know before using a retinol product?

Retinol type actives increase sun sensitivity, so pair them with daily sun protection and introduce them gradually rather than nightly at first. Avoid layering several strong actives at once until you know how skin responds.

What should I look for in sun protection?

Broad spectrum protection covers both burning and aging wavelengths. Reapply every couple of hours in direct sun and after swimming, regardless of the rating. A high rating does not extend how long a single application lasts.

How should skincare be stored?

Store products away from direct light and heat, which degrade active ingredients. Vitamin C and retinol are especially light sensitive and often come in opaque or dark packaging for that reason. Keep lids closed tightly.

What makes a good beauty gift?

Beauty makes a straightforward gift because nothing needs sizing. A candle or hand care set suits almost anyone. For skincare, a cleanser or moisturizer is safer than an active treatment, which depends on individual skin.
