City Guide:
A Day in Austin

Austin, known as one of the music capitals in the world has long been an up and coming city in the lone star state. Home to well known food establishments and iconic landmarks, Saint Bernard employees have put together their list of favorite spots around town!

THE BRUNCH SPOT: JOSEPHINE HOUSE
@jeffreysjosephine - 1601 Waterston, Austin 78703

We started off our day like most Austinites would, with brunch. The team behind Josephine House is responsible for some of Austin's best eats, including Lamberts and Elizabeth Street Café. Situated in a bungalow cottage with a blue exterior, and bright, white interior paired with dark hardwood flooring and an intimate marble bar. The place makes you feel like you've entered into your dream kitchen where a chef awaits to make you the brunch meal of your dreams. The place is small and quite popular so I would recommend making reservations.

COOL OFF: BARTON SPRINGS POOL
2201 Barton Spring Rd, Austin

With this Texas heat, we needed to find a way to cool off and we knew the right solution. In the center of Zilker Park itself is Barton Springs Pool, a three-acre pool that is fed from an underground spring; you pay a small fee to swim. The natural watering hole is kept around 68-70 degrees, which feels just right on a scorching summer day. The pool is open daily, but closed most of Thursday for a weekly cleaning.

What To Pack Checklist:

Rayban Sunglasses for the Texas sunshine
SuperGoop Antioxidant Sunscreen
Pendleton Luxury Spa Towel to dry off
Tribeza Magazine to read while relaxing
JadeTribe bag to pack it all

SNACK BAR: WHOLE FOODS
@wholefoods - 525 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78701

The flagship location of Whole Foods is a staple here in Austin. A healthy eaters holy grail with so many quick snack options, there is something for everyone. It’s a “must visit” during a long trek of a day. Aside from being a grocery store, Whole Foods has many stations in where you can get prepared dished. Aside from that it also includes a bakery, salad stations, hot food buffet (with vegetarian options), juice/smoothie bar and a full service bar. If you are looking for a place for options for everyone, this is your best bet!

THE VIEW: 360 BRIDGE
5300 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78730

As a nice getaway from the city; the Pennybacker Bridge is an iconic landmark. The climb to the top is not for everyone but the view is worth it! The rumor is out so expect a lot of traffic on the trail and be cautious and courteous to others in the limited parking situation. Comfortable shoes are a must and have your camera or phones ready because you're going to want this in your feed.

SHOPPING AT SAINT BERNARD NORTHSIDE
@domainnorthside - 11821 Rock Rose Ave #142, Austin, TX 78758

A family-friendly outdoor mall with stores, boutiques, restaurants and bars. You can find shops like Bonobos, Theory, Sephora and Austin favorites like Eliza Page. Not to mention an awesome store named Saint Bernard. Visitors looking for a more traditional mall-style experience with a twist should consider visiting this space.

DINNER WITH AN EXPERIENCE: EMMER AND RYE
@emmerandrye - 51 Rainey St #110, Austin, TX 78701

As we were greeted to Emmer & Rye by the staff, we knew we were in for an eventful evening. Emmer & Rye is the first contemporary American restaurant in Austin to offer dim sum service as part of the meal. You can order items directly from the circulating carts as well as a seasonally influenced menu that updates weekly. Ordering was the most difficult part because at a glance of the menu you feel overwhelmed with choices. Fortunately, you can't make a wrong move as everything that was served tasted delightful. Make your reservation now!

AUTHENTIC DESSERT: CHURRO CO
@churrocoaustin - 1906 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704

There is always room for more dessert! For a couple of years now, The Churro Co. brings a Mexican classic dessert to the Austin food truck scene. These delicious churros are made to perfection but that's only half of it. Churro Co. uses the pastry as a base for creative options like “The Campfire”, a churro tossed in graham cracker sugar and topped with Mexican chocolate, whipped cream and toasted marshmallows!
