Texas Standard Clothing

Locally and family owned and operated in the heart of Texas since 1978, there are few things Saint Bernard loves more than getting to introduce another local family business on the fashion scene. Texas Standard, the new menswear line for Texans, was brought to life right here in Dallas by husband and wife design team Drew and Christine Bagot.

Saint Bernard is thrilled to be the first retailer to carry Texas Standard! Get to know Drew and Christine and their inspiration for the line in our exclusive Q&A:

Texas Standard Clothing for Men
  1. This is the first fashion initiative for each of you. What made you want to work together and how did the idea for Texas Standard come to life?
Drew: “Christine and I work as a great team in our marriage and always dreamed of building a business together. I grew up around the apparel industry my whole life through my family who has been in the business for over 40 years, so in some ways it’s been in the back of my mind for a long time. We still wouldn’t have guessed we would ever start a clothing brand, but ultimately it felt like something we needed to bring into reality.”
Christine: “We are, as many Texans are, proud of where we are from and felt that none of the brands on the market really represented us. After talking about it for years, we finally asked ourselves "Why not us?” and decided to lead the charge to create Texas Standard.”

  2. What will the Saint Bernard customer love about wearing Texas Standard?
Drew: “First and foremost we think that wearing a classic brand designed by Texans, for Texans, is long overdue and Saint Bernard customers will really enjoy being a part of that movement. Beyond the brand, our clothes are soft, durable, and cut with both style and comfort in mind. Part of our design mission is creating timeless clothing that can be dressed up or down, always versatile for an array of seasons and occasions. On top of that, 10% of all our profits go to Texas-focused charities, which makes it about something even more important as well.”

  3. What are some characteristics of the design of Texas Standard pieces that help them stand apart?
Christine: “Learning from square one how to design and manufacture top-quality clothing took a long time, but we think going the extra mile paid off in the final product. We started from scratch in designing our products, from the fabric to every stitch and seam.  We wanted each piece to have that classic look and feel, but also be fashion forward and flexible. For example, our sport shirts are short enough to look great untucked and casual but also work perfectly with slacks at the office, and our pocket tees have hidden stitching so they are a bit dressier and wear well in a variety of settings.”

  4. Where’s your favorite place to wear Texas Standard?
Drew: “One of our personal passions is travel, and long before we brought Texas Standard to the public we’ve worn it across the state, the country, and the world. We really enjoy getting asked about the brand outside the state and talking with non-Texans that are inspired by the sense of independence and pride that drove us to create the brand.”

  5. What inspired you to launch the Texas Standard Foundation?
  6. Christine: “When we decided to create Texas Standard, it was important that our company have a larger purpose, and directly giving back to Texas communities became a key part of our mission. Ten to Texas is our initiative which takes 10% of all of Texas Standard’s profits and donates them to our partner charities. We are currently working with Feeding Texas, Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), Habitat for Humanity Texas, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Our long term vision is to add to the list of partner charities as we grow, and also develop volunteering opportunities for the company and our customers.”

Howdy Homemade Ice Cream

At Saint Bernard, we hope our clothes inspire new adventures and confidence. It may be on the mountain, at the ocean or for a new weekend full of promise around your hometown.

Our neighbors at Howdy Homemade Ice Cream are also promoting adventure and confidence, one scoop of handmade (and delicious!) ice cream at a time. Howdy Homemade not only stands out by serving inventive ice cream flavors. Their mission of hiring exclusively from the special needs community makes them a very special part of the neighborhood at our flagship Dallas store. "Ice Cream for Dreamers" is now the only ice cream for us!

We noticed the pride Howdy Homemade employees feel at their job and realized we could bring in our specialties to help. The 14 employees at Howdy Homemade were surprised with new uniforms, styled by Saint Bernard and outfitted by Southern Tide. These Southern Tide Skipjack polos are ready for long days of scooping and serving! Their new looks were topped off with new Southern Tide sport shorts for cooler days, Southern Tide Skipjack pants, custom aprons and Southern Tide Skipjack hats.

Kalin, a key holder at Howdy Homemade, let us know how professional he felt in his new uniform, saying "It's like you walked into my day and changed my whole world." That's how we feel when our friends come to us and let us dress them for their new adventures!

We hope our Dallas friends can pay the great team at Howdy Homemade a visit soon! Make sure to tell the team how sharp they are looking thanks to our wonderful friends at Southern Tide
