Shadow Mtn Tasha for LaHonda

Karen and I were in Raleigh NC at the AKC parent club conference and then we judged St. Bernards and Black Russian Sweepstatkes at their National the last two weeks. We took a long deserved and earned vacations.

However, while we were on vacation, dog shows go on and we came home to a nice surprise.
Shadow Mtn Tasha for LaHonda owned and loved by Jim and Vearl LaBerge went to the Gold Country Kennel Club and took WB and BOOS on Saturday. Tasha was the youngest girl there and won from the 12-18 months class. At the same show, another one of our puppies,  Shadow Mtn Simply Irristible took RWB.

Then on Sunday Tasha shown by Jim took WB and BOOS again.

We are pleased with the T Litter. Tasha now has 3 points.

Great Weekend

Beckie and I went to the RENO KENNEL CLUB dog show held at the Grand Sierra Resort.and Casino. What a great place to hold a dog show. The entire show was inside the Casino and there were close to 1,200 dogs. They had set up 9 rings including obedience inside the Ballroom. It was nice showing in a climate controlled facility with on site food (buffet line), inside grooming and potty areas as well as the ability to do the same outside.

On Saturday, Shadow Mtn Sam I Am (Sam) bred by Karen, Beckie and I and  owned and loved by Bill and Shirley Kolin went Winners Dog and Best of Winners for a 5 pts major. Sam had to do it the hard way as he was entered in two classes by mistakes.  First he had to win the the 12-18 months class and then the Open Longhaired dog class. Sam did great and now at 14 months of age sits on 9 points and one major. Sam was shown by Beckie

On Saturday, Shadow Mtn Saving Grace (Gracie), the litter mate to Sam went Reserve Winners Bitch from the 12-18 months class to a 4 pts major. Gracie has 5 points at this moment and her turn for the major will hopefully come shortly. Gracie also was expertly handled by Beckie

On Sunday, Shadow Mtn Simply Irresistible (Iris), another litter mate to Sam and Gracie and owned and loved by Lori and Ken Juenke of Reno took another Reserve Winners Bitch to a 4 pts major. Iris has been shown sparingly by Lorie, but her turn is just around the corner. Her and Lori look great together.

We are tickled pink with the S Litter mates and the way they are turning out.

Now on a private note.  We had the privilege of staying with Ken and Lori. If you don’t know, Ken and Lori are heavily involved in St. Bernard Rescue. It was interesting to see their set up. They have a separate kennel area for their rescues. It is amazing to see what they do with the rescues and how UNSELFISH they are giving off their funds to help the breed they love. Here is their website:

If anyone can help them by finding a new home for a rescue St. Bernard or by making a donation, I am sure they would appreciate any help you can provide.

Again, thanks in advance

Shadow Mtn Vogue (Elle)

Elle has decided that if Paul sits in a chair, she might as well use the lap that is available. She also loves chewing on Paul’s beard. The question is how long will it be before the lap is too small.

Puppy Agility!

While Shadow Mtn Sam I Am (Sam) was in Reno taking a 5 point major, his half Brother, Shadow Mtn Victory for Monte (Cuba) is busy learning the Agility ropes with his owner, dog trainer Casey Lomonco in upstate New York!

Someday, Cuba aspires to be a show dog, but for now, he’s working on his Agility and obedience, then plans to get into some drafting and Dog Shows as he grows.   (He’s only 10 weeks old, for goodness sake).   He has a full time job at Rewarding Behaviors Dog Training and is teaching the other puppies.

Casey says that Cuba likes to Surf on the Ball Board, and has been found by himself surfing away!

Cuba’s Daily Socialization diaries can be found at:  http://www.rewardingbehaviors.com/2010/08/06/puppy-socialization-days-1-2-and-3/

Casey said: “He went through a barrel with the bottom cut out as his first tunnel. Before we left Abbie’s field, he’d gone through this 20′ as well! First following Mokie through, then on his own a few times.”

Ahh, relax time!

Shadow Mtn Valley of Fire v Wine Cntry (Val)

Val has moved on to live with Jon and Jamie, 4 kids and Earthquake (St Bernard) in Oregon. Val left this morning, had her first bath and met Earthquake. According to Jon and Jamie, they are buds. Val then got a bath and now is a clean girl. Look for Val in the show ring in the Northwest once she gets a little older.

Shadow Mtn Victory for Monte (CUBA)

Cuba has made the move with his new parents (Casey and Jim) to New York and is settling in. Cuba’s new owner Casey is a dog trainer and blogger. You can follow Cuba’s exploits as well as his development schedule on Casey’s blogs at http://networkedblogs.com/6C79t . She is doing updates about new experiences with the dog, how to train a puppy, how to handle a puppy. The site is extremely interesting and you may seriously consider adding it to your favorites. Look for Cuba in the Conformation ring, in the obedience ring, at draft tests and rally events in the New York area as soon as he gets old enough.

She also posts a ton of pictures and here are a few of the ones on her site.

Shadow Mtn Vino Veritas (Dino)

Shadow Mtn Vino Veritas (Dino) went to his new home in Santa Monica on Wednesday.

Check out his Tag!  He’s already getting some Hollywood Glitz!

Shadow Mtn Tater Gem v Meadowpark (TATER)

Tater is now just over one year old and the #5 Saint Bernard in Canada.  Linda and Brian last weekend took Best of Opposite at the show and send us the photo of Brian showing Tater. This was the 1st time for Brian in the show ring. I was impressed both by Brian showing as well as by the movement shots of Tater and thought we would share them.

Shadow Mtn Tailgater v Regal Bear (GATOR)

Shadow Mtn  Tailgater v Regal Bear (GATOR) lives with Jim and Barb Laurie of Lamont, Alberta.  Gator is just under a year of age in this picture. He was born July 21,2009.
